Applying Limpetite®
For polluted atmospheric conditions, it is usually applied to a thickness of 0.75mm and for most immersion applications a thickness of 1.5mm is sufficient. Limpetite® is applied as a thick black and grey compound to give a heavy duty coating to counteract extreme conditions of corrosion. Larger applications can be done in situ avoiding the costly removal and reinstatement of plant. In appearance Limpetite® resembles natural rubber but has a far better resistance to heat, sunlight, oils and chemicals making it vastly superior for the majority of coating purposes.
After the coating has cured it becomes highly resistant to water, aliphatic solvents, solutions of most salts, inorganic alkalis and non oxidizing acids such as dilute sulphuric acid, phosphoric and hydrochloric. It is extremely resilient and has excellent resistance to abrasion and mechanical damage. The coating bonds well to a variety of substrates e.g. metals, wood, GRP, stone, brick, and concrete using the appropriate primers. Its unique qualities make this material an ideal choice for either maintenance coatings for the protection of structures or heavy duty lining or sheathing in the marine field, chemical industry and power stations.
